Ingredients

The recipe makes three prepared jars, ready to lift from the fridge for breakfast across the next few mornings.

For the Strawberry Chia Jam

  • 1 small punnet of strawberries, approximately 250g
  • A small splash of water
  • 30ml fresh orange juice
  • 4 tbsp chia seeds
Fruit note: The orange juice lifts the strawberries and adds brightness without requiring large amounts of added sugar.

For the Three Overnight Oat Jars

  • 9 tbsp gluten-free oats, approximately 90g
  • 1 tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1½ tbsp coconut slivers
  • 6 tbsp Greek yoghurt
  • 1 small handful of currants, approximately 30g
  • 45g mixed Brazil nuts, almonds and cashews, roughly chopped
  • 50g 80Noir Ultra 87.5% dark chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 250–300ml almond milk, or milk of choice
Flexible recipe: Use whichever nuts, seeds or milk you already have. Add enough milk for a loose mixture, as the oats, chia and flax will continue to absorb liquid overnight.

Method

Begin with the strawberry chia jam, then assemble the three jars and leave the oats to soften overnight.

  1. Remove the strawberry stalks and cut the fruit into small pieces.
  2. Add the strawberries to a saucepan with a small splash of water and 30ml orange juice.
  3. Cook gently until the strawberries soften and begin to break down, stirring occasionally.
  4. Lightly mash the cooked strawberries with the back of a spoon, leaving a little texture if desired.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat, stir in the 4 tablespoons of chia seeds and leave the mixture to thicken and cool.
  6. Divide the strawberry chia jam between three clean jars, creating a generous fruit layer at the base of each.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free oats, black cocoa powder, flaxseed, coconut slivers, Greek yoghurt, currants, chopped nuts and pieces of 87.5% dark chocolate.
  8. Pour in the almond milk gradually and mix until everything is evenly combined. The mixture should be creamy and slightly looser than you want it to be the next morning.
  9. Divide the oat mixture evenly between the three jars, spooning it gently over the strawberry chia layer.
  10. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or for at least six hours.
  11. The next morning, stir or leave the layers visible. Add fresh berries, a small drizzle of maple syrup, extra yoghurt or chopped nuts before serving.
Storage: Keep the jars covered in the refrigerator and enjoy within approximately three days. Add delicate fresh fruit toppings immediately before serving.

A More Considered Start To The Day

This breakfast combines fibre, protein, fruit, fats and real cacao to create a more substantial morning meal than a highly sweetened cereal or pastry alone.

Oats, Chia & Flax

Oats, chia seeds and flaxseed provide fibre and texture. Together, they create a slower, more satisfying breakfast with a creamy, spoonable finish.

Greek Yoghurt & Nuts

Greek yoghurt and mixed nuts contribute protein, texture and fats, helping make each jar feel more complete and substantial.

Strawberries & Currants

Strawberries bring freshness and naturally occurring vitamin C, while currants add concentrated fruit sweetness and chew.

87.5% Dark Chocolate

Ultra-dark chocolate brings cacao intensity and small pockets of indulgence with less sugar than standard chocolate pieces.

A note on functional wellness: No single breakfast can determine how the whole day feels, but preparing a balanced meal in advance can make it easier to begin the morning with nourishment, consistency and less rush.

Why Overnight Oats Work So Well

The overnight rest allows the oats, chia and flax to absorb the milk, creating a naturally thick and creamy breakfast without cooking.

Prepared strawberry and dark chocolate overnight oat jars

Three Mornings, Already Prepared

Preparing three jars at once removes one decision from the morning and gives you a ready-made breakfast for the days ahead.

The strawberry chia jam brings colour and freshness, while the darker oat layer provides cacao richness, texture and contrast.

For a softer texture, add a splash of milk before eating. For a thicker jar, leave it as it is and finish with fresh fruit or yoghurt.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy straight from the fridge or allow the jar to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before eating.

Fresh Berry Finish

Top with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or whichever seasonal berries you have available.

A Little Maple

Add a small drizzle of maple syrup when you want a sweeter, more dessert-like breakfast.

Extra Creaminess

Finish with a spoonful of Greek yoghurt and a splash of almond, oat or dairy milk.

More Texture

Add extra chopped nuts, cacao nibs, coconut or a few pieces of 87.5% dark chocolate before serving.

The Final Serve

Juicy strawberry chia jam, creamy cacao oats, mixed nuts and pieces of ultra-dark chocolate come together in a breakfast that is prepared ahead, ready when you are and made to bring a little more intention to the start of the day.
