When the weather gets hotter, the last thing you want is something hot, so this is the perfect balance of nutrition, cold and chocolate. Great for a recovery drink or a breakfast shake.
Packed fill of banana for potassium and magnesium for recovery or good carbs, Dates for natural sweetness and added fibre, dark chocolate and dutch cacao powder for a powerhouse of fibre, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and a kick arse reason to get up in the mornings its a great wake up shake! Add to that vanilla powder for added flavour, oat milk and greek yoghurt for protein and a silky smooth richness (you can use coconut yoghurt for vegan version). Its so easy to make and even better to drink. If you have bananas which are going black - perfect! Use them as its adds to the sweetness.
Makes 400ml (2 portions)
250 ml Oat milk
50g greek yoghurt (or coconut cream)
1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
4 Medjool dates (stone removed)
25g 80Noir Ultra chocolate
2 teaspoon dutch raw cacao powder
In a pan, add the de-stoned dates, with water and 80NU chocolate, and very gently heat. You want the dates to soften so they are easier to whizz and digest and not to burn the chocolate. Stir with a wooden spoon for about 7 minutes
Whilst the pan is heating up, add the banana into a bowl and mash with a fork, vanilla powder and cacoa powder, then add the milk and greek yoghurt and stir till its all combined. You can process it for a smoother texture. I quite the roughness at this stage, Just make sure its all combined.
Once the dates have softened and the chocolate has blended with the water, add the mixture the cold ingredients and mix together. Then put them in a blender or hand whisk and whisk till it is silky smooth. Pop them in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
If you like really cold drinks (I don't personally) but you can put the glass in the fridge or freezer too and add ice. that way its the perfect summer refreshing drink.
