Real French Hot Chocolate Recipe

I love trying various ways to make hot chocolate and I am a big believer in having it as part of my breakfast, so its no real surprise that I wanted to show you how to make a real French version of the hot chocolate.

I have adapted the general version slightly by adding pure cacao of 100% instead of cocoa powder. It does make it a slightly sharper taste than normal but the results are fabulous, and not only that, it packs even more of a punch in the flavour stakes.

Dark chocolate contains several compounds that possess antioxidant properties, such as flavanols and polyphenols. Antioxidants neutralise free radicals and prevent oxidative stress and its the oxidative stress, which refers to the damage that excessive amounts of free radicals can inflict on cells and tissues in the body. This in turn contributes to the natural aging process. Over time, the effects of oxidative stress may also contribute to the development of a variety of diseases like heart disease, diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimers, Cancer etc so why not have it for breakfast and let the healing commence. Not only does it taste heavenly, its working wonders for your mind and body.


1 tsp of vanilla essence or powder

2 cinnamon sticks (you can also use powder - 1 tsp of powder)

Dash of honey - optional if you want some sweetness

Pinch of salt

220ml Oat Milk (you can use ordinary milk - personal preference)

25g 80Noir Ultra

30g pure cacao


1. Add the milk and cinnamon into the pan. Increase the heat from medium to high. You want to heat the milk so it's a rolling boil. For about 5-10 minutes.

2. Once you have got the milk to a rolling boil, turn the heat down to low and then add the rest of the ingredients and slowly mix together.

3. Stir slowly to make sure it is all mixed together for another 5 minutes, you will see to turning a luscious thick consistency..

4. If you want it thicker, cook for longer but if you like it silky smooth, pour into a cup and enjoy at your leisure and like the healing and benefits boost your body and mind.
